Terrible, and such sad news this morning, the policeman died.

For me the worst news of the last few hours was the armed militia brought into the university by the Dean of the Law Faculty to violently disperse peacefully protesting students. The students had taken over an auditorium on Thursday night and invited some members of the public to debate the changes to the university system that Macron is bringing in. The Dean has since resigned. It has shocked me to my core.

I have just finished reading Ben Elton's book, Two Brothers, about the Nazi Germany, or rather the build up to it. There are many things in that book that are ringing true today.
