How very rude!
Were you tempted to phone them back and put the phone down?

I have the opposite problem and repeatedly say 'okay, thanks, bye, yep, take care, bye...' hoping they'll put the phone down and let me off the hook.

I've done that, too. Prefer it to the former, tho!

People come in all shapes and sizes, all colours and each one has too much baggage. Too late in life I discovered the secret and that is: when people attempt to negate your personal power, negate theirs by not caring because people want you to care.

Sadly, after spending too many years on this planet, I find I can count on one hand those worthy of my time.

A friend of mine introduced me to her favourite antidote to the dragging-on call. Mind you, it works better if you can do it in her sugar-sweet tones.
'I'm going to let you go now... Yes, I really must... Bye!'
