Best part. Tho I was long listed in one and then had 5 weeks to complete the novel. Fortunately a childrens book so only 55k. But no surprise I didnt get shortlisted. I think Jake's work would be under commercial fiction which is a new category... -

I heard from a publishing editor who sometimes judges that each judge is in search of something for their wishlist. The initial readers (unless they're children in a children targeted competition) are aware of that. If you have the best story... -
