I have a lot of family photos from the 70s, 80s and 90s that I scanned and uploaded to my laptop. Some of them are not great quality, so I’ve been using an AI site to improve them, by giving precise instructions not to change faces, backgrounds, etc. I only want improvements to focus and clarity.
I’ve been getting good results, but for one particular photo, AI made radical unwanted changes. I rejected the changes and emphasised that I wanted to improve focus and clarity only. For some strange reason, it made the same unwanted changes again.
I jokingly asked if it had been boozing.
It replied, “I am an AI and do not consume alcohol.”
I then instructed it to go back to the original image and improve focus and clarity only, and to not make any other changes. It made the same unwanted changes.
I then advised it to switch to a low alcohol beverage.
It repeated that it was an AI and did not consume alcohol.
I tried again to get it to follow my precise instructions, but again it failed, so I told it I would try later when it had sobered up.
It again emphasised that it was an AI and did not consume alcohol or partake in any illegal substances.
Finally, I told it that I was only joking about the alcohol.
It replied, “Ha, ha! I get the joke. I like your humour. Enjoy the rest of your day and I hope to see you later so that we can try again.”
