Well if you ever worked in print then you know exactly what this means. And I can overwork things now if my editor brains gets too nosy. Protect your voice. The goal is not some kind of classroom perfection -it is a story that people need in their lives. They will forgive a lot if they get that.

I get lots of feedback telling me to remove adverbs, which is good advice usually, but sometimes removing the adverbs from a sentence dilutes the tone of it and changes the way it comes across.

I'd call using adverbs (in the right place) unguarded writing...
