• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

Some US publications insist on Shunn Formatting
I hadn't come across this until last year for an anthology which clearly stated anything not in Shunn format would be deleted unread! I did as I was told, and my story was accepted.

Other places don't necessarily use Shunn, but I've seen open calls and competitions talking about "industry standard" which can vary slightly between country. Might be worth searching for industry standard formatting for Canada (if it's a Canadian thing).

But the moral of the story is check submission guidelines carefully and give exactly what they ask for.

12pt TNR double spaced is standard for prose submissions, unless otherwise specified.

Although I think synopses can be 1.5 spaced - someone jump on this if I'm wrong.
AFAIK, single spacing is fine for a one-page synopsis, switch to double spacing for a two-pager. Essentially, you end up with the same number of words either way.
