I've been a paying subscriber of Strange Pilgrims since it started (it's been going almost a year). I'd followed another account of one of the husband and wife team who run it, and I really wanted to support them. It's one of very few Substacks I thought was worth paying for (and I got a good introductory price because they were new then). But I'll be honest, they haven't delivered on the promised content for paid subscribers, and I'm not going to renew for another year even if they offer a discount renewal price.

Most content, and all their published stories, are offered for free. It's a good Substack for all that. But it's still a Substack. And most of the stories have a similar vibe. It's quite samey.

That said, if you can write well in the Strange Pilgrims style, their pay is good.

I should probably submit at least something before my sub runs out, but I doubt I've got anything to their very particular taste.
