• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

    • Don't give offence

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

After a 49-year wait, melodic progressive rock band Stoggam are finally releasing their début album, Expecting Different Results. The group originally formed in 1977 under the name Maggots and, although they never officially split, they spent nearly five decades quietly drifting in different directions while staying in touch.

Why does this matter to Litopians? Well, because the band’s guitarist is none of that Litopia’s very own @Jonny :)

I “went" to the single’s preview virtual launch last week, and enjoyed every moment. Musically, Expecting Different Results draws on the kind of ambitious, exploratory rock that was typical of Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, Weather Report and others. If those names don’t mean anything to you… you were probably not alive in the late ‘60’s :)

But if you like prog rock, have a listen. I think you’ll be blown away by the virtuoso guitarist!

Aww... thank you so much, Pete. That's really kind of you to post this. And glad you enjoyed last Friday's event.

I'll show it to the band. They will be chuffed.

Congrats! Go Jonny :)

For anyone interested the album is being released tomorrow (Sunday May 17th) on Bandcamp.

There is a listening party (these are free) where the whole thing will be played. There's also an optional chat room where you can comment etc. Everyone is welcome and we'd love to see you there. The band is called Stoggam and the album is called: Expecting Different Results.

And here's the link to the Listening Party.
