• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

Huddle South this Wed, May 6th, 8am UK (BST). Bring your WiP, query letter, proposal or blurb — or just come and listen. Hosted on Zoom by literary agent Peter Cox. Relaxed, confidential, sharp. Included with Platform Plus+ membership.

This Wednesday — May 6th at 8.00am UK (BST) — we're gathering for Huddle South, Litopia's Writers' Huddle scheduled for the global South.

Weekly Huddles usually take place on Saturday evenings, but since Litopia is a global community of writers, that timing doesn't suit everyone. Hence Huddle South — scheduled to be convenient for writers across the global South.

Hosted on Zoom by literary agent and Litopia's founder Peter Cox, Huddles are relaxed, informal and confidential. A friendly, practical space to bring your work in progress and get honest first impressions and real-time feedback from the sharpest and most supportive literary group online.

But it's not only WiPs. Query letters, book proposals, synopses and blurbs are all welcome — as is anything you've spotted in the press or online that's relevant to the industry. And of course Pete will be happy to answer any questions you might have. Ask him anything about publishing or the book world. He's a mine of information.

Regular attendance at Huddles develops your expertise. Experience shows there's no shortcut: highly-priced courses and seminars generally over-promise and under-deliver. The fastest way to develop exceptional writing skills is through really effective, regular practice — and that's exactly what Huddles facilitate.

Submitting work isn't mandatory. You're more than welcome to just come along and take part in the general discussion. It's an experience that's genuinely hard to come by anywhere else, and it's included at no additional cost as part of your Litopia Platform Plus+ membership.
